PESHAWAR: Village Councilors from Union Council-178 (UC) Sheikhan, have threatened to besiege the Chief Minister House, if the village council office wasn’t shifted to other location within a week. Addressing a news conference at press club on Thursday, the UC Nazim Nasir Khan Musazai said that the village council office was established on Frontier Road in remote area of Sheikhan nearby turbulent tehsil Bara, saying that the area being constantly remained in curfew, due to which it could not possible for elected representatives to visit there. Flanked by the General Councilor, Javed Akbar Gul, Youth Councilor Mohammad Adil and others councilors, Musazai said that elected representatives had requested for shifting of office a year ago, while the issue was also raised with Additional Director (AD) Local government department, Riaz Khan, after which a team a team visited to the area, and proposed the shifting of the village council office from present location. Similarly, he said the elected representatives had also registered their reservations regarding office with Chief Minister Complaint Cell, but the issue was yet to be addressed. He said that it was not only difficult for elected representatives, but the general public to visit the area because of the ongoing chaotic situation nearby teshil Bara. “We want to shift the office in main Sheikhan village, instead of far-flung region to address the issues of masses” Musazai said. However, he alleged that PTI led provincial government was not taking interest to shift the office, to give benefit of few rupees to his favorites, which he described as source of corruption. On one hand, he said the PTI chairman Imran Khan and its party led government had raised tall claims regarding strengthen of the institutions, and autonomy of elected representatives, and diversion of 30 per cent funds to local governments. But, he pointed out that the funds of Rs 2.2 million had released, out of which only Rs.1million spent on salaries, as no development work was carried out in the area, he added. The elected representatives urged the Chief Minister Khattak, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, Inayatullah Khan, and high officials department concerned to immediate shift the office of village council Sheikhan, to address the masses issue, otherwise they would compel to besiege the chief minister house.
