KHYBER AGENCY: Khyber Political Administration on Thursday distributed compensation cheques among 200 tribesmen of Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency for their homes demolished in militancy and military actions in the area. In this regard, a ceremony was held at Khyber House in Peshawar which was attended by Additional Political Agent, Mir Raza, Assistant Political Agent Bara tehsil Muhammad Arif, elders, political leaders, political administration and Khyber Rifles official. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Political Agent Bara Muhammad Arif said the administration had made distribution of cheques among 200 affected families in phase-vise. Tribes people of Malikdinkhel, Akakhel and Sipah tribes of Bara tehsil received compensation grant. He said Rs75.2 million had been allotted for third phase distribution compensation cheques. APA said the cheques were given to the affected people in two categories. Those in the category-I will get Rs0.4 million as their houses were completely destroyed, while Rs160,000 are for the owners of the partially damaged house. He thanked Khyber Rifles, Pakistan Army, political administration and peace bodies for conducting a transparent damage assessment survey in Maidan and Bara. Agency Coordinating Officer Yousaf Shah Afridi, other officials and elders were present at the distribution ceremony. Scholarships for male and female students: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli on Thursday handed over education scholarships to the male and female students studying at COMSATS Institute Attock Campus. These scholarship cheques were provided to the children of registered workers sons and daughters as financial support. There are total 130 students, studying in the said institution, who were the sons and daughters of the KP labor workers. 15 students from the total 130 received their cheques from the minister, on the occasion, while the remaining 115 would also be provided the same very soon. The total amount issued for these 130 scholarships was approximately Rs. 21 million wherein Rs 18.6 million approximately included for the fee and other necessary expenses, while the remaining for monthly stipends of the students. The cheques distribution ceremony was held here at Peshawar, while KP Special Assistant to CM on Technical Education Arshad Khan Umarzai, Deputy Director Workers Welfare Board Sajid Inam and other concerned were also present on the occasion. During the ceremony, the KP Minister for labour Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli said that the government was providing a number of opportunities for the better education of the children of labor workers in the quality institutions of the country as well as the province. She said the expenses of these students were being provided by the provincial government to ensure students, success in every walk of life and sector of the country. Shield and cash Award: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra awarded shield of the House and a cash award to Sidratul Muntaha for standing 1st amongst the entire lot of ACCA candidates globally. The ACCA (Association of Chartered certified Accountants) is a worldwide organization working globally. Khwaja Awais Bilal FCA Principal, PAC (Professional Academy of Commerce), Asad Malik, Representative of ACCA UK and mother of Sidera- tul-Muntaha were also present on the occasion. The Governor while appreciating the position holder described her success a great honour for the province, since she is the first lady from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for achieving 1st position globally. There is no dearth of talent in Pakistan” he added. Miss Sidrat-ul-Muntaha belongs to district Swabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and she appeared in the recently held ACCA Examination from Peshawar based institution, Professional Acadmey of Commerce. Earlier, the Governor also awarded a student from Mohmand Agency Ms Tanya Khan who did Master in Comparative Social Policy from Oxford University UKon full merit scholarship.
