PESHAWAR: Tribal teachers on Wednesday threatened to shut all government-run schools in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) if the federal and provincial governments did not take notice of hurdles in the way of the long awaited up-gradation of all tribal teachers. While addressing a news conference here at press club, Khan Malik Orakzai, Chairman All Tribal Teachers’ Association (ATTA), said that FATA teachers are working without any deputation allowance across FATA under a Presidential Ordinance since 1972. He informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government upgraded all teachers on various posts in 2012 and still continue, but unfortunately around 22000 teachers working in FATA were ignored, he alleged. “We brought the issue into the notice of respective governments and officials concerned in FATA Secretariat and also held protest demonstrations in favor of our demands”, he said, adding the federal government compelled to upgrade all the 22000 teachers working in FATA on May 13 this year. But, now the Director Education FATA Hamidullah is playing delaying tactics and creating hurdles in way of their up-gradation, he alleged. Flanked by office bearers of ATTA, Khan Malik alleged that the officials concerned started injustices with the teaching community by bringing various hurdles in way of their up-gradation. The director education issued an illegal and unjust order for the re-verification of the documents of all concerned teachers, which were already re-verified twice, he added.
