UPPER DIR: The elections for Tehsil Wari Nazim and Naib Nazim have ended in a tie for the third consecutive time since August 2015 as the candidates from both Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Mutahida Qaumi Mahaz (MQM) were unable to beat each other. Candidates from both sides secured seven votes each on Wednesday when the elections were held for the third time since both sides secured same number of votes on August 30, 2015 when the elections were held for the first time. No party or candidate could win the elections in re-elections on September 6, 2015. Before the recent elections, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) had got a stay order against holding of the election, which resulted in the suspension of the elections due to the stay order by the courts. The other day the high court cancelled stay order of the JI against holding of the election and ordered of holding of the election on Dec 6, yesterday. The election was held aimed in tight security arrangement as police and levies personnel were deployed in the jurisdiction of the Assistant Commissioner (AC)’s office where election had to hold. Local leaders and supporters of both the sides, JI and MQM, were also present on the occasion. After ended on tie of the election the Returning Officer AC Wari Syed Ahmad Kamal said that he had organized election for the third time on high court directives that day which had ended on tie once again, added that the result was being sent to the provincial and district election commissioners and the provincial election commission will then decide whether council would be dissolved or election would be organized for the fourth time. After the election both the sides declared ‘tie’ of their victory as both the sides were claiming that it was their victory. The MQM leaders were gesturing victory signs to their supporters standing outside the returning officer. Saeed Shah, candidate of the naib nazim from MQM, said that it was their clear victory because then the council would dissolve automatically as per rules and regulation of the local government act. And election commission would announce fresh election on tehsil seats in the tehsil Wari. He said that they were unite and hopeful about a clean sweep on all seats if re-election announced. However at the other side the JI candidates and leadership were also optimistic about their position. They organized a press conference after the election in Wari attended by JI’s district Ameer and naib district nazim, Hanifullah advocate, district nazim of Upper Dir, Sahibzada Faseehullah, tehsil Dir nazim, Mir Makhzan Din, Malak Behram Khan, Maulana Inamullah and others. Hanifullah said that according to the article 78(A) of the KP local government act two of their dissented members, Gul Bahadar and Shaheen Bibi, would be disqualified from their reserve seats because, he added, those two members had violated the rules and changed their loyalties with the party and they had no right to remain members on JI’s reserve seat after not obeyed the directions of the party provincial leadership.
