MANSEHRA: The affected people of 840 megawatt SukiKanari hydropower project Saturday threatened to stage sit-in outside the Supreme Court if the government didn’t accept their 14-point charter of demands. Holding banners and placards, the protesters gathered outside the Madani Plaza on Kaghan road in Balakot and chanted slogans in support of their demands. “We would resist construction work on the project if our demands are not accepted,” Rustam Khan, the Tehsil NazimBalakot told the protesters. Mian Ashraf, the chairman of action committee of affected people, QariHameedurRehman, MianManzoorurRehman and others also spoke on the occasion. Rustam Khan said though the people of Balakot were not against such mega project being executed under the multi-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC), they cannot allow the government to acquire their lands at throwaway prices.
