PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has outstanding potential in the energy sector as around 32 foreign investment companies have shown interest of investment under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the province. This was stated by Minister for Energy and Power Muhammad Atif Khan on Tuesday while presiding over a meeting of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) at its office that foreign investors have influx to the province to invest in the energy sector and want to invest billions of dollars investment, adding that government has recently advertised six projects of 668 megawatt which was applied around 32 companies. Atif Khan claimed that the scrutiny of the companies applied for the purpose of investment at the pipeline and soon the province will awards the contract under the CPEC project. He said that in 2017 the volume of the foreign investment in the energy sector will reach up to Rs 150 billion which will create jobs for more than 150 thousand peoples of the province. Energy Minister Atif Khan shared that 120 out of 356 mini micro projects have been completed and after completion of the all projects the province will be independent in the energy sector. The KP government has planned to initiate energy projects capable of 1200 megawatt in the province in the next one and half years which will give ways and opportunity to millions of dollars of investments he added. Secretary energy Engineer Naeem Khan, chief of the PEDO Akbar Ayub, PESCO chief Anwarul Haq Yousafzai, Senetor Numan Wazir and other officials of the sector were among the attendant of the meeting. Govt working to make Peshawar a beautiful city: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayat Ullah on Tuesday meets the delegation of Village Councils Nazims of Chamkani area. He said, “KP government would work to make Peshawar Beautiful and Modern again”. The Minister meets with the delegation of district members and Nazims of Village Councils district Peshawar to knew about the real situation of rural areas. The delegation was led by Khalid Waqas president of Hidmat Khalq Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Peshawar who is also a member of district council Peshawar informed the Minister about basic live hood facilities. The meeting was attended by the official of Provincial Development Management authority, MSP, WSS, TMA 2 along with the village council Nazims of Chamkani district Peshawar. The delegation informed the minister about the problems at Chamkani and also highlighted the performance of authorities responsible for cleaning garbage. The delegation said to Widened the main chamkani road along lights should be installed along proper beatification of the road sides. The Minister listed their works and ordered competent authorities to meet their demand on time. He insured the residential nazims that government would provide every facility at the door step and have already achieved in some areas of Peshawar.
