PESHAWAR: Around 56 disgruntled representatives of the district council Peshawar plan to meet Chief Minister Pervez Khattak against the allegedly poor performance of District Nazim Asim Khan. According to the source the forward block of 56 representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the district council held a meeting at a local hotel of Peshawar here on Sunday to discuss the future line of action. The block, waiting for the option of vote of confidence after their meeting with the chief minister and in order to give a logical conclusion to the movement, initiated the move against the Peshawar Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan. The representatives of the councils have locked horns with the Nazim over his alleged poor performance and also for violating the rules of the party such as interfering in the cabinet selection process and funds distribution for the different union councils of the district. The source claimed the Nazim was unconstitutionally holding a meeting at the party cabinet which was opposed and they warned the Nazim to keep at an arm’s length from the cabinet selection process. The Nazim runs two offices at a time one in the party and another in the district councils and his attention from the developmental works has remained diverted, which has raised a question mark over his performance, the representatives added. The sources said that the members of the council have already informed the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, on the sensitive of the situation and the creation of the forward block of the PTI representatives, in the council. It is pertinent to mention here that around 40 members of the councils have rejected the process of the Town Cabinet Formation of the district president of the PTI and had threatened a vote of no confidence against its own party Nazim earlier this month. “The fate of the emerging issue will now be decided by the chief minister and if the demands of the forward block were not addressed properly than the option of the vote of no confidence would be used in the council as a protest,” the disgruntled persons claimed. However, when contacted, the district Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan, was not available for his comments on the issue. People angry with ANP joining PTI: The people all over the province are joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as its leadership has toppled the corruption legacy of the previous government and has assured the merit base policy in government jobs and developmental schemes. This was said by the PTI Minister for Youth, Sports and Heritage Mehmood Khan, here on Sunday while addressing a large number of newly joining members’ ceremony on Sunday at tehsil Matta Swat, an official handout read. On the occasion a number of lifelong workers and families associated with the Awami National Party (ANP) quits its party and formally joined the PTI. Expressing their views the newly joined members criticised the leadership of the ANP and alleged them for betraying the people of the region in the name of Pashtunwali. Mehmood Khan alleged that millions of funds had been embezzled by the leadership of the ANP and then deposited in foreign banks, adding that merit based policies were the need of the hour to boost the standard life of the region. He said that the government of the PTI was trying to assure the completion of the developmental schemes at tehsil Matta Swat. The minister said that all promises of the development for the area had been honoured and referred the initially completed schemes of two electric feeders, Fazil-Bhanda Road by spending Rs. 650 million.
