ISLAMABAD: Residents of the Soan Garden Expressway are facing acute shortage of water for the last one month and have no other option but to hire private water tankers which are charging a hefty amount from them. The residents of Soan Garden said that the society had its own abundant water as it is situated on the bank of the Soan River. Inspite of abundant water in the area the management of the society was involved in fleecing the residents by selling its water rather than to provide it free as the residents are regularly paying their water bills to the society. Imran Ali a resident of the area said the situation had become so worse that the society had its own motor pumps that could be run for 24 hours but water was not available in the society. He said the residents were facing severe problems due to unavailability of water for the last one month while the authorities concerned are mum over the situation. He added that this situation forced the locals to shift to other places. While a resident of the area opined that due to poor planning, various houses in the society were getting insufficient supply of water. He urged the authorities concerned to take steps to ensure water supply. The officials deputed at the Water Tanker Inquiry Service in the society have also been failed to facilitate residents after repeated complaints by the people of the area. When contacted, an official of Soan Garden Society said that due to summer season the demand of water had increased in different sectors. He appealed to the residents of the area to avoid misuse of water.
