RAWALPINDI: In order to cope with the anticipated flood situation, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has cancelled the leaves of all field staff. They have been directed to remain alert during Eid days. This was stated by the Managing Director WASA Raja Shaukat Mehmood. He said that dredging of Nullah Leh was under way to prevent any flood-like situation in the monsoon season and would be completed by July 7. He also said that heavy machinery including suction pumps, jetting machines, sewer cleaning machines, dewatering sets and water boozers were fully operational and deployed at four flood centres located at Liaquat Bagh, Moti Mahal, Bagh Sardaran and Khyaban-e-Sir Syed. He advised the residents not to dump waste in the nullah as it disrupted the flow of water in the city’s main sewerage line.
