ISLAMABAD: The District Administration Islamabad has sealed nine illegal clinics running in contravention of drug rules in various areas of the federal capital. According to details, Assistant Commissioner (Shalimar) and AC (Potohar) conducted surprise inspections of drug outlets in the rural areas and sealed nine clinics being run illegally in Mera Aabadi, Shams Colony and Sector G-11. The sources within the district administration said that the campaign against quacks had been expedited as well as against those involved in non-compliance of drugs rules and regulations. The medical equipment being used at these clinics was found sub-standard and the hygienic conditions of clinics were also found unsatisfactory. Some of the clinics were also displaying boards of BP test and sugar test in violations of rules. The names of sealed clinics are Shah Jee Medical Center, Aljadoon Clinic, Bacha Jee Medical store, Al Noor hospital, M. Suhail Clinic, Family clinic, Khawateen Clinic etc. The health authorities have directed the drug store owners to follow the drug rules failing which stern action would be taken against violators. IESCO issues power suspension programme: The Islamabad Electric SupplyCompany (IESCO) on Monday issued the power suspension programme forAugust 30 for various areas of its region due to necessary maintenance and routine development work. According to an IESCO spokesperson, the power supply of different feeders and grid stations would remain suspended for the period. Presiding over a meeting here, he directed the concerned departments to keep a close liaison with each other and public representatives to completely wipe out the outbreak threat of dengue. He said people’s representatives, NGOs, private hospitals and district government teams should play an effective role in the dengue eradication campaign. He stressed upon the need to initiate awareness programmes among the masses for adopting precautionary measures to protect themselves from the lethal mosquito. He directed officials to ensure immediate fumigation and spray of cattle at the entry and exit points of the city, at sale points and at cattle markets for prevention of the Congo virus ahead of Eidul Azha. He directed the officials to carry out spray of animals besides taking steps for treatment of animals suffering from any sort of disease including Congo virus to prevent the spread of Congo virus among the people. DCO Talat Gondal briefed the meeting that people coming from AJK, Haripur, Kotli and the federal capital were increasing the number of dengue patients in the district, adding that only 25 patients were admitted from Rawalpindi in the allied hospital while a number of them had been discharged. The meeting was also attended by parliamentary Secretary Raja Javaid Ikhlas, Executive District Officer Health (EDO) Dr Arshad Ali Sabir, Dr Jamal Nasir and other officials.
