ISLAMABAD: A lower court of Islamabad on Tuesday sent an administration officer of Poly Clinic Hospital Muhammad Arshad, on judicial remand in a case of illegal appointments. Senior Civil Judge Abdul Ghafor Kakar, heard the case and rejected the FIA request, seeking a physical remand of the accused. FIA informed the court that the accused had been allegedly involved in a process of 34 illegal appointments at the hospital. The FIA told the court that Doctor Iftikhar Naro managed to prepare appointment letters through the accused and signed it. The official said that Dr Iftikhar was already arrested in the oxygen purchasing case of the hospital. The FIA requested the court to grant a physical remand of the accused so that the officials of the CADD were also allegedly involved in the case could be made part of the investigation. After hearing the arguments, the court rejected the FIA request and directed to send the accused on judicial remand. 2 IESCO SDOs, 24 meter reading staff suspended: IESCO CEO Dr Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan has suspended two SDOs of Murree and Patriata, two data supervisor controllers, three meter reading supervisors and 17 meter readers for allegedly recording bogus meter readings of the consumers in the jurisdiction of Murree and Patriata sub divisions. The IESCO’s CEO had constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the complaints of bogus reading and in the light of the inquiry committee report these officials have been suspended. Woman booked for torturing children: Six persons including a woman have been booked for allegedly torturing and assaulting women and children within the Koral Police jurisdiction. Basharat, a resident of Koral, lodged a complaint with the local police that Mubarak, Basharat, Bidar Bakht, Shahzad Khan, Bakhtawar and Sajida Bibi stormed into his house and started torturing and punching his wife and sons over a petty issue. Two brothers hammered to death: Two brothers were hammered to death within the Sadiqabad Police jurisdiction. Mohammad Saeed, a resident of Sadiqabad, lodged a complaint with the local police that his sons Tanveer and Naveed were doing welding work at Awais Steel Mill. In the meantime arguments took place between them and another labourer Khurram. This enraged the latter and he along with his eight accomplices attacked the two brothers with hammers leaving them injured on the road.
