ISLAMABAD: The Bahria Town has said it never encroached upon even a single inch of private or government land and that documentary evidence of all of its properties was available with it. To give appropriate road access to Bahria Enclave, the Bahria Town cooperated with the CDA and the latter itself allowed the private town planner to build a road with condition to build 3.5 kilometer long road from main Kuri Road to Kuri Model Village, besides that Bahria Town will uplift existing Kuri double road and will also extend 1.5 kilometer long main Kuri double road. The CDA Member Planning CDA Wasim Ahmad expressed these views to Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat held on April 23rd 2014, while Senator Mrs. Kalsoom Parveen, the then chairperson chaired the committee. According to the minutes of the committee available with Daily Times, the roads were in the ownership of CDA and in this regard no land has been given to Bahria Town. The Bahria Town was only given permission to construct these roads at its own cost, which were part of the CDA’s Master Plan and were to be constructed by the CDA. The committee was further informed that Bahria Town had provided compensational benefits to the CDA for construction of these roads which were serving as access approaches to number of adjacent villages of the area. A representative of the Bahria Town informed the committee that 1.5 kilometer road had been completed as promised. Main Kuri double road had been uplifted by putting layer of asphalt on the existing road, lane marking and traffic signage has been done. About 1500 ft patch which was on hold was got vacated by Bahria Town by paying a compensation of Rs 13 million to the people claiming the ownership of the said land and after that this patch had also been developed. As for as the second Kuri village road was concerned, a one 24 ft wide carriageway has been completed and the remaining part was not constructed because it was in the possession of local villagers and they were not allowing to do the construction works. This was the responsibility of the CDA to provide vacant land for the construction of the road.
