ISLAMABAD: Director General MET office Ghulam Rasool Friday predicted very hot and dry weather which would persist in most parts of the country over the next three days. Talking to a private news channel, he said but after two to three days it was likely that rain and thunderstorms would help reduce temperatures in different parts of the country. In Karachi, coastal winds would continue to blow, keeping the temperature below 36°C. However, light rain, thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at few places in FATA, Hazara, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan, Peshawar, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir during evening and night. The Met Office said the heat wave would prevail in Sukkur, Larkana, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sibbi and Makran divisions. He said weather in Multan had become pleasant due to overnight rain but dusty winds would continue blowing in the coming days. He said people there faced problems leaving their houses, and had resorted to covering their faces to protect themselves from the dusty winds. Weather in Lahore would remain very hot, hence, he advised residents to avoid spending time in the sunshine and added that students have also asked the government to announce summer holidays in universities and colleges, just like they did with schools. The highest temperatures over the past 24 hours were recorded in Dadu (49°C), Sibbi, Jacobabad (both 48°C) and Moenjodaro (47°C).
