ISLAMABAD: “Gali-e-Dastoor”, a dedicated lane on the first floor of the Parliament House building narrating the story of Pakistan’s constitutional history, is now open to the public. Anyone from across the country can visit the Senate and have a guided tour of the gallery and the courtyard, said a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat here on Monday. This is an attempt to give an opportunity to the people to relive this important yet most neglected part of Pakistan’s history. This “Gali” is a tribute to the sacrifices of the men and women of Pakistan for a just democratic struggle and constitutional supremacy. The “Gali-e-Dastoor” is a thematic and symbolic representation of the chronology since 1947 about the constitution making and positive and negative developments in the process. It is a pictorial story with comprehensive captions. Other than the mural of the “Gali”, there is a fountain in the court yard which represents the true essence of the federation and the Pakistani people. An introductory video about the “Gali” also constitutes a part of the guided tour. Students from schools, colleges and universities are encouraged to come and visit the “Gali” to understand and experience their nation’s history. The Senate Secretariat invites applications through email, post, telephones and an online registration form on the Senate website to book this free guided tour of the path of the constitutional path.
