RAWALPINDI: After brutal attack on Bach Khan University in Charsadda, security arrangements of all the educational institutions in Rawalpindi division are reviewed in a detail meeting on Monday held at Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi district. Acting Commissioner Sajid Zafar Dall along with district RPO Fakhar Sultan Raja presided the meeting that was also attended by CPO IsrarAbbasi, ACs, DPOs, SDPOs, heads of all the government educational institutions, representatives of law enforcing agencies and officers of concerned government departments. DCOs, DPOs of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal districts participated in the meeting on a video link and updated about the security level of their respective districts in this respect. While referring to the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and decisions of meeting held at provincial level, acting commissioner said that the security plan of all the educational institutions would be fully implemented and any lapse found in observance of security measures would be dealt accordingly. He said that the government has already communicated steps to be adopted to ensure foolproof security measures and if anybody failed to do so then they will be proceeded under the law and such educational institutions would be closed down. Sajid Zafar said that a detailed security audit of all educational institutions had been conducted and security deficiencies conveyed to the management of these institutions found contrary to the defined security parameters. He further said that all such institutional heads had been given dead line up to coming Thursday to overcome the shortfalls of security measures otherwise they would not be allowed to continue their academic activities because nothing is paramount as compared to the lives of students and teachers. Rawalpindi RPO Fakhar Sultan Raja said that the teams of officers had been constituted to ensure the compliance of observing security measures in educational institutions. He further said that the teams would check the boundary walls of educational institutions up to eight feet, fixation of barbed wires, establishment of watchtowers, presence of trained armed security guards, installation of close circuit cameras (CCTVs) and control room to monitor and recording of mobility, walk through gates, metal detectors, physical fitness of security staff and working condition of weapons. RPO pointed out that proper screening must be carried out prior to opening of educational institutions every day in morning. Employees and labour working in educational institutions should also get security clearance, he added. CPO Israr Abbasi said that training courses had been started in Rawalpindi Police Lines for security staff of educational institutions in which they would be trained in firing and proper response in case of emergency situation.
