ISLAMABAD: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Islamabad Police has busted a gang of Afghan nationals involved in looting people coming out of banks along with money and recovered the snatched cash and vehicles from them, police sources said. The police received the complaint of a person near Zero Point, who was going to his destination, after taking money from Alfalah Bank in Sector F-7. Following this compliant, the SP (Investigation), Muhammad Ilyas, constituted a team under the supervision of the CIA’s DSP, Bashir Noon. This team succeeded to apprehend a gang of three Afghan nationals involved in this banditry. The SIU police team recovered Rs 800,000 and a rented car from these nabbed persons identified as Hashim khan s/o Rosy Khan r/o Kabul Afghanistan, Hamshad s/o Mandaraz khan and Waheedullah s/o Shafiqullah r/o Karnai Akherabad Afghanistan. During the preliminary investigation, they revealed that they used to keep a surveillance of people who parked the vehicles and went to banks for withdrawing cash. One of the gang members used to mark a deep cut on the tyre of the parked vehicle which turns flat during driving and then the criminals manage to snatch cash when the occupants of the vehicle stop. On September 27, 2016, they looted Tanveer Khan near the residence of Satellite town, Rawalpindi, near Zero Point and snatched cash amounting to Rs 800,000 from him when he was he was on his way from Alfalah Bank F-7 branch. A detailed investigation is under way and the police is hopeful of recovering more money and looted items from them.
