ISLAMABAD: A four-day mega event Millennial Olympiad 2016 commenced with full zeal and zest at Roots Millennium at campus I-9/3 in federal capital on Wednesday. This four-day mega event was inaugurated sponsoring several competitions and 1,200 plus participants from over 20 institutions and 10 cities taking part in 20 exciting competitions which include; cricket, football, badminton, snooker, battle of the bands, master chef, live art, dramatics, chess, hybrid console gaming, table tennis, picasso painting, fashion show, concert and media fest. The Millennial Olympiad is an initiative of the ambitious and enthusiastic students of Roots Millennium Schools at Millennium campus I-9/3 in capital. It is a platform on which participant students from across the country have registered and the platform allowed them to prove their mettle within various domains of co curricular and extracurricular activities. The opening ceremony was presided over by Roots Millennium Schools Chief Executive Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq. The ceremony marked the pledge by charged speakers that the aim of the Millennial Olympiad is to inspire youth to help shape a world based on justice, solidarity, liberty, dignity, harmony and prosperity for all. During his address, he appreciated the initiative of the students and encouraged the youth of Pakistan to become the agents of change through engagement in student initiatives on national and international forums. Faisal Mushtaq stressed upon the significance of youth for ideas, initiative and implementations. He encouraged school environment conducive to support the personal and professional development of the leaders of tomorrow as his fiercely motivating speech inculcated the spirit of patriotism and nationalism. The ceremony also included speeches by the Millennial Olympiad 2016 President Hasan Madni who profoundly thanked the event sponsors. He also encouraged the students present at the opening ceremony to pursue ideas and take the spirit of entrepreneurship forward as opposed to pursing educational opportunities and careers abroad so as to contribute to the development and growth of Pakistan as a country and a nation. The opening ceremony was followed by entertainment, music on the unique carnival theme. The event included sports activities in the afternoon and a fashion show as well on the eastern and western theme in the evening. The event was judged by some of the most renowned fashion names in the fashion industry of Pakistan like Erum khan. Participants also dressed in costumes representative of the eastern and western theme and participated in a ramp walk. The second day of the Millennium Olympiad will go on to include sports activities in the morning and theme dinner followed by Casino Royale theme in the evening with an expected audience of over 1,200 students. The olympaid organiser said, “The students love every minute of the Millennial Olympiad.” She said, “On the one hand, we have the most number of higher achievers in the Cambridge international examinations while on the other, we love to let our students explore others areas by engaging on extracurricular activities.
