ISLAMABAD: American band ‘Grupo Fantasma’ wished to produce some valuable collaborative music with Pakistani musicians to present music traditions of both the countries. The members of the Grupo Fatasma band expressed this. These days Grupo Fantasma is on a visit to Pakistan and organising music concerts in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. The concerts are sponsored by the US embassy in partnership with the Foundation for Arts and Culture (FACE). The Grupo Fatasma band members said that it would be great to produce collaborative music with Pakistani musician adding that the music is an essential tool to connect people across cultures and between countries. US Embassy Islamabad’s Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer Erin Molnar said, “In Grupo Fantasma’s music, we hear influences from across the world including South Asia”. She said, “Their music is a great example of how music adapts and absorbs influences from other cultures. It’s perfect reflection of American culture, which also blends traditions from all over the world”. The band has been praised as one of music’s most important and unique independent Latin genre acts to come out of the United States in the last decade.
