ISLAMABAD: A number of Indian TV channels are backing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif amid the Panama leaks crisis. The Indian media is propagating that Army Chief Raheel Sharif is the real threat to India and he is behind derailment of the Pakistan-India peace process. After the arrest of an Indian spy in Pakistan, India has launched a propaganda campaign against General Raheel Sharif. According to the Indian media, the army chief has emerged as a powerful figure in the country and completely outshined Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. IBM Samachar, a private Indian news channel, is running a propaganda campaign in favour of Prime Minister Sharif and against General Raheel Sharif. The channel said in its propaganda report that Raheel Sharif was the major threat to India because he had overwhelmed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The Indian media in its baseless propaganda said that Army Chief Raheel Sharif showed his resentment against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Lahore in December. The news channel said that General Raheel Sharif had decided to attack India and in this regard the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had started imparting training to 30 men in collaboration with Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa. To prove its theory, the news channel cited a statement of former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar in which she said that Nawaz Sharif was not allowed to work freely. The Indian news channel in its disinformation campaign said that portraits of General Raheel Sharif had been displayed throughout the country. “It seems that General Raheel Sharif is going to contest elections,” the Indian news channel said in its report.
