ISLAMABAD: The East-West Centre (EWC) has invited applications from experienced media professionals for its Senior Journalists Seminar. The programme is a professional dialogue, study and travel programme that seeks to bridge the gap between the United States and the Muslim world. The programme will run from August 17 to September 11.The deadline to apply is May 19. Twelve to 17 journalists will spend 21 days travelling to Washington, Salt Lake City, Honolulu; Jakarta/Yogyakarta, Indonesia; and New Delhi, India, said a press release. They will meet religious and interfaith dialogue leaders, government officials, business executives, academics, community leaders and cultural experts to better understand the impact of religion on government policy, finance, education and culture. Journalists must be from the United States or countries with significant Muslim populations, including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Burma, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States, Algeria, Belgium, Canada, Chad, Cyprus, England, Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Mali, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia and Turkey.
