ISLAMABAD: Music-filled and heart-warming performances comprising “Wadaiko” drumming (traditional Japanese drums), folk dancing, instrumental music and songs enthralled the audience here on Saturday. The Embassy of Japan, in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), the Japanese School, the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association and the MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan, organised the “Japanese Musical Evening” on Saturday, at the auditorium of the National Art Gallery. The musical performances comprised of “Wadaiko” drumming (traditional Japanese drums) and Pakistani songs and fusion of the music of both the countries heightened the moods of the participants. A dynamic and powerful performance resonated in the souls of both the performers as well as the listeners by Sheniko, who sang songs and Alberto played the instrument. The performance of both specially, when she sang Japanese song “I love million times” was quite impressive and the people responded with thunderous applause. The beautiful performances of Pakistani amateur singers, Saima Afzal and Mohsin, who also sang Japanese songs further added colour to the show. It became more of an arts performance like the ones seen at festivals or witnessed during concerts. The show ended with the beautiful dance performance of the Kindergarten kids of the Islamabad Japanese School. The group of these kindergarten kids aged between three to six years is known as “Nakayoshi Yochien Group”.
