ISLAMABAD: As many as 245 cases were registered in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) regarding crimes against women and children from 2013 to April 30, this year. Cases regarding crimes against women are usually registered under domestic violence, honour killing, burning, sexual assault, and harassment at workplaces while crimes against children cases are mainly concerned with abduction, sexual assault and forced labour. According to data available here, 48 cases were registered regarding crimes against women in 2013, 33 in 2014, 79 in 2015 and 36 in the first four months of the current year. The cases regarding crimes against children registered during the same time span revealed that 11 reports were filed in 2013, followed by 13 in 2014, 20 in 2015 and four till April 30, this year. The official data regarding crimes against women further revealed that 27 cases of domestic violence were registered in 2013, followed by one case of acid burning, 21 cases of sexual assault and 20 cases of other nature crimes. In 2014, 24 cases of domestic violence were reported, 16 cases of sexual assault and 10 cases of other nature crimes, whereas in 2015, 20 cases of domestic violence were registered, followed by 26 sexual assault cases, one case of harassment at workplace and 32 cases of other nature crimes. In the first four months of the current year, 14 cases of domestic violence were reported, 11 cases of sexual assault two cases of harassment at workplace and nine cases of other nature crimes. The data of crimes against children showed that in 2013 eight cases were filed under sexual violence and three cases of kidnapping however, in 2014, eight cases of sexual violence and six cases of abduction were reported. In 2015, 11 cases were filed under sexual violence, eight under kidnapping and one case of forced labour, whereas this year till April 2, one case each was reported under sexual violence and abduction of children. app
