ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Tajikistan Sherali Jononov hosted a grand reception to mark 26th anniversary of Independence Day of Republic of Tajikistan. Jam Kamal Khan Minister of State for Petroleum was the chief guest. Governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana, National Security Adviser Lt. Gen (r) Nasir Janjua and several other high-level officials and diplomatic community graced the occasion with their presence. People from all walks of life were invited to be part of Independence Day festivities. The jam-packed hotel showed love of Pakistan people for Tajikistan and its people. Both countries enjoy excellent relations, which have constantly been on the move especially after the arrival of Ambassador Sherali Jononov. He has put in his best efforts to bring both countries even closer. Pakistani senior leadership has visited Tajikistan many times. From Tajik side, senior leaders, including the president, have visited Pakistan in order to promote and further strengthen bilateral relations. CASA 1000 is the landmark energy project. It is in its final stages. Once completed, energy demands of Pakistan will be met. The project is likely to be completed in a couple of months. It will help end loadshedding from Pakistan. Military cooperation between the two countries is also deepening with the each passing day. Likewise in the field of culture, tourism, education and trade both Pakistan and Tajikistan have already undertaken a number of projects. Published in Daily Times, September 23rd 2017.
