ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court was requested on Saturday to hear a civil miscellaneous application on October 25 which urged the court to bar the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from holding a protest demonstration in Islamabad. Advocate Tariq Asad filed the application. He requested the court to restrain PTI Chairman Imran Khan from closing down Islamabad, which according to the petitioner “was prejudicial to public peace and order and security of Pakistan”. The court has already fixed the Panamagate case on November 1, a day before the PTI’s demonstration. However, the early hearing application requested the court to hear the case on 25th or any other date in the week commencing on 24 October in the interest of public importance and protection of the fundamental rights of the citizens. The applicant said that Imran Khan told the media that the court was constrained to file the petitions because of the pressure built by sit-in otherwise the case had not to be fixed, adding that such activities are tantamount to contempt of court.
