ISLAMABAD: The federal Government has released around Rs430 million for the development schemes of Islamabad union councils. The Federal Government has released funds under SGD to Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) for the various Union Councils. The decision for the release of funds were made during a meeting Federal Minster for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Fazal Chaudhry, MNA Capt (R) Safdar, Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Naqvi, Azam Khan, while Chairmen of different UC were also present. Dr Tariq Fazal and MNA Capt (R) Safdar said that the federal government has released Rs 250 million funds, which would be spent for resolving various problems including supply of gas in areas located in NA-48. Moreover, Rs 20 million has been allocated to supply electricity for each rural areas UCs of NA-48 constituency. Rs 20 million have been kept which would be spend under PWD budget. He further said that Rs160 million would be spent for refurbishing roads located in streets and supply of electricity to various UC of located in Islamabad. IESCO: IESCO has decided to hand over mobile meter reading and bill distribution system of Bhara Kahu division to private sector. The decision has been taken in wake of day to day growing complaints of corruption in meter reading and inordinate delay in distribution of bills among the consumers. Over 24 officials were suspended also due to incorrect mobile meter reading while inquiries against most of the suspended officials are underway. Bhara Kahu division comprises five sub divisions including Bhara Kahu rural, urban, Murree, Patriata, Jheeka Galli while over 125000 consumers are being billed in this division. IESCO spokesperson said that decision for handing over bill distribution and meter reading system to private sector has been taken to ensure transparency in mobile meter reading and timely distribution of bills. Campaign: Motorway police has launched a four phase anti-encroachment drive to clear GT road from encroachment. DIG motorway police N-5 north zone Abbas Ahsan informed that to provide free, safe and uninterrupted passage and to mitigate the accident ratio,a 04 phase anti encroachment drive to clear the GT road from encroachment has been launched throughout the N-5 North zone and at Murree Expressway. DIG north said that the first 02 phases have been successfully accomplished. During the 1st phase from 27 February to 05 march 2017,all types of encroachment were identified and meetings with the concerned trade unions, Municipal and local administration, lawyers/bars councils and media personal have been held.
