ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a lawyer for not appearing before the court in a criminal case. Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali while expressing his displeasure over non-appearance of Advocate Muhammad Ameer Butt in the criminal case remarked that it is the prime duty of lawyers to defend their clients when a case is set for hearing. The judge remarked, “Lawyers should take cases keeping in view their workload and also fulfill their duties honestly while being considerate the bench”.
