ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chudhary on Thursday said that the planning and development wing would remain with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) while sanitation, health and water departments would be shifted to Islamabad Municipal Corporation (IMC). While answering to various questions in Senate, he said that the notification in this regard would be issued in few days. He said that a transition committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of additional secretary-II of Ministry of Interior for the process of distribution of movable and immovable assets between Islamabad Municipal Corporation and CDA. The minister said that the CDA has provided all the necessary data to the transition committee adding that that transition officer is in the process of formulating recommendations for the federal government in this regard. He said that the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management of Capital Development Authority is dealing with all types of emergencies, arising out of man-made or natural disasters such as fire, flood and earthquake. The minister said that the fire brigade of CDA is also fully equipped to cope with fire related incidents and disasters adding that it is a fact that some roads were damaged during construction of Metro Bus project in the federal capital and these roads are being repaired by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) being the executing authority of the project. He further said that the rehabilitation and re-carpeting of major roads, service roads, avenues and IJP Road are being carried out on priority basis including sectors G8, G9, G10, G11, I9, I10 and I11 under prime minister’s package and its work would be completed during the current financial year. He said that the land on either side of Islamabad Highway is not being used for dumping of refuse adding that the western side of the highway is thickly populated and falls in Rawalpindi district and this area is under the administrative jurisdiction of RDA.
