ISLAMABAD: The Member Administration of CDA Salman Khan Waraich is blamed for using his office to pursue his personal interests by taking adverse actions against land owners in the revenue estate of Shah Allah Ditta. However, the accused officer rejected the claim by considering it as a reaction of his strict policies against land grabbers. Several allegations against the member administration of the civic body were made by a land owner in the revenue estate of Shah Allah Ditta Mr. Khalid Bhatti, along with the head of Jamaat-e-Islami, Islamabad’s chapter Zubair Farooq Khan, at a press conference here in Islamabad. They exchanged a dossier containing documents of the ownership of Mr. Salman’s land in the area of Shah Allah Ditta, according to which he has ownership rights over a big chunk of land measuring around 200 Kanals in the said area. According to documents available with the Daily Times the member admn is also a shareholder and the director of a company “Tri Quest Pvt. Limited”, which is registered with Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. Documents further stated that Mr. Salman directly owns 17 Kanals and 15 Marlas in addition to 16 Marlas which are in the ownership of his wife Sana Salman whereas he is also sharing ownership of around 200 Kanals of land through the aforementioned “Tri Quest Private limited”. Mr. Khalid Bhatti, while talking to Daily Times has said: “We have a conflict over possession of property with the company of Salman Waraich and he is forcing us to vacate the legal suit filed by us in the court of law by using his dominant position.” He alleged that the Member Administration and his partners want to possess more land than they originally owned. He declared yesterday’s operation of the CDA to retrieve forest land as a totally illegal and a move to pressurise them. Yesterday, the Enforcement Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Environment Wing of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) was conducted a joint operation and retrieved 100 kanals of forest land from an illegal housing society adjacent to Sector D-12. Zubair Farooq Khan has said: “The Member Administration is using his influence for personal gains and his conduct came under the conflict of interest.” He demanded Salman’s removal from his post within one week and threatened that the “Authority remove him otherwise they would stage a demonstration in front of the CDA’s main office.” He accused that the member administration wanted to purchase the land of legal owners at a throwaway price by launching unjust operation against them. The Member Administration, while responding on the issue has termed these persons as blackmailers and the “Qabza Mafia”. He said; “I have owned this land since 2001 before joining the service of Pakistan whereas I had established my company on the directions of my lawyer.” He said: “The ownership of property is my constitutional right and these properties are my declared assets as per my tax returns.” He further informed; “these land grabbers visited my office a number of times since my appointment as Member Administration but I did not meet them because of their ill repute.” Although, the press conference against the member administration of the civic body may be a move to defame or put under pressure, but he is now in a controversial position as he has a direct conflict of interest with his post. When questioned, Mr. Salman in this regard, he replied: “I am not doing anything wrong but I have no issue if the government transfers me to any other department.”
