ISLAMABAD: National Assembly’s (NA) standing committee on Information and Broadcasting has sought report from the officials of state-owned news channel PTV regarding recruitments made by former MD Abdul Malick and report to be sent to NAB and FIA for further action. The meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla in the Parliament House on Wednesday. The PTV Chairman Attaul Haq Qasmi during the meeting told the committee that PTV could not compete with other TV channels as contents screened on private TV channels are against our traditions and values adding that the attempts are being made for the revival of past glory of PTV. On this occasion, Information and Broadcasting secretary and PTV MD Syed Imran Gurdazi in his briefing told the committee that it is the obligation of PTV to convey true and accurate information to masses adding that there are eight channels of PTV and almost 90 percent people have access to these channels. The committee Chairman Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla said that the transmission of PTV is not available in the area of Mian Chino. On this, the secretary said that PTV’s centre is being setup in Mian Chino, which would be completed and operational by December 2016. The PTV chairman said that the channel is focusing on production centres as foreign dramas have no relevance with our values and traditions.
