ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) brought a bad name to well reputed university of international repute by erecting the sign boards with Islamic International University Islamabad in place of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). It was responsibility of the management of IIUI and its faculty passing regularly from these wrongly painted sign-boards. The name of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has been written as Islamic International University Islamabad on signboards across the capital city. The investigation conducted by Daily Times revealed that about four signboards have been installed at various city points with thematic mistakes. Three such signboards have been installed on Faisal Avenue, Sector I-10 and Main Kashmir Highway indicating the location of the varsity. A source said that nobody has bothered to correct the mistakes despite they were informed about the gaffe. A senior official on the condition of anonymity confirmed that the administration was aware of the error. “Despite acknowledgment, non-correction of names on signboards is shocking and a matter of shame,” he said. When contacted IIUI spokesperson Hafiz Abid Masood admitted the error and said that it was made by CDA not by the varsity. “DG administration repeatedly wrote to CDA for correction of the signboards but still in vain”, Masood claimed. Very interestingly the one such signboard installed on Kashmir Highway leads toward motorway, has been corrected after two days the Daily Times pointed out error in the notice of spokesperson. According to an official in the varsity familiar with the development the correction was put into place by the IIUI administration. It seems to contrary to the Masood claim in which he said “the installation of signboards made by CDA not IIUI”. When asked about provision the recent letter’s copy to the scribe, spokesperson however, expressed ignorance about that when was the letter wrote.
