ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, federal minister for interior and narcotics control, on Friday expressed concerns over alleged irregularities in a visa agreement between the Pakistani High Commission and Gerry’s. The minister directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the matter and submit him a report on alleged irregularities in a contract that was awarded to Gerry’s during the last government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He said the ministries of foreign affairs and interior should ensure in future that no Pakistani ambassador or high commissioner signs an agreement on his own. The minister said that Gerry’s was overcharging the Pakistanis seeking British visa and this was unacceptable and condemnable. He said it should be checked if the agreement could be cancelled.
