ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) on Tuesday successfully conducted a full scale airport emergency exercise in collaboration with Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122, Edhi Foundation, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Military Hospital, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital along with doctors and paramedics who actively participated in this exercise. The exercise was organised under the command of airport manager to establish coordination amongst the participating agencies for carrying out rescue and fire operations in case of aircraft crash or emergency situation at the airport. The exercise enabled the management to test the response of all concerned agencies involved in aircraft accident or incident according to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards and Crisis and Emergency Response Plan (CERP). An Airbus A320 was used for the demonstration with 130 mock passengers on board in the simulated exercise. The response time was achieved in less than three minutes before the agencies along with fire and rescue department successfully evacuated all passengers from the aircraft.
