ISLAMABAD: Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, chairman NAB said NAB is committed to recovering looted money from corrupt with iron hands by using all its resources. He said this while visiting NAB Baluchistan during his farewell visit to NAB KP on Monday. Director General NAB Balochistan Irfan Naeem Mangi in his welcome address said that it is indeed a great pleasure and honour for NAB Balochistan to warmly welcome Qamar Zaman Chaudhry during his farewell visit to NAB Balochistan. He said that chairman has always been remained a guiding force for officers/officials in discharge of their duties without any fear and favor. He said, “It is a great privilege and proud for us that under your dynamic leadership from 2014 to 2017, NAB Balochistan has been actively perusing the cause of arresting corrupt and has recovered billions of rupees in order to eliminate corruption and corrupt practices through a holistic approach of Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board.” He said that every beginning has an end and every end has a new beginning. He said, “Due to your dynamic leadership, today NAB has rejuvenated, strengthened and working with the realization that eradication of corruption is our national duty.” He said, “Our success as the apex anti-corruption agency inspires us to work more vigorously and double our efforts to achieve the goal of Zero Corruption, 100 Percent Development in Pakistan. He said, “Strong leadership like you led the organization in right direction with proactive Anti-Corruption Strategy which was implemented in letter and spirit, due to which NAB Balochistan’s performance remained excellent. We have nabbed the corrupt and deposited millions of looted money of people in the national exchequer.” He lauded the remarkable services of Chaudhry and the measures he took during his tenure which have started yielding positive results. The chairman NAB while addressing as chief guest to officers/officials of NAB Balochistan said, “The valuable time I have spent in NAB during my responsibilities as Chairman NAB, I have tried my level best to rejuvenate NAB by taking new initiatives, Internal Accountability and eradication of corruption from the country as Corruption is cancer which is a silent killer.” He said today NAB is absolutely committed to root out corruption in all its forms and manifestations with iron hands. He said that corruption is major hurdle in the way of progress and prosperity of the country which creates injustice, poverty and depriving a deserving person of its due right on merit. He said that NAB in collaboration with HEC established 45,000 Character Building Societies (CBSs) in Universities/Colleges in order to aware youth about the ill effects of corruption at an early age. He said NAB has set target for 2017 that the number of Character Building Societies (CBS) should be reached at least at 55 thousands due to its importance and excellent feedback received so far. He said that today, NAB is the chairman of SAARC Anti-Corruption Forum. NAB is the only Organization in the world to whom China has signed MoU in order to streamline cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and oversee projects to be undertaken under CEPC. He said that NAB has established its first Forensic Science Lab (FSL) in Islamabad which has facilities of Digital Forensics, Questioned Documents and Fingerprint Analysis. He said that NAB has rationalized its workload and timelines have been prescribed for efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of cases putting a maximum limit of 10 months – from complaint verification-to-inquiry-to-investigation and finally to a reference in the Accountability Court. NAB has also introduced a new System of Combine Investigation Team (CIT) in order to benefit from the experience and collective wisdom of senior supervisory officers, a system of CIT comprising of Director, Additional Director, Investigation Officer and a Senior Legal Counsel has been put in place. This will not only lend quality to the work but also ensure that no single individual can influence the proceedings. The results of CIT are very encouraging. He said that NAB has devised monitoring and evaluation system to track implementation and outputs systematically, and measure the effectiveness of performance which helps in enhancing the operational, monitoring and evaluation capabilities of NAB. He said that Monitoring and Evaluation System provide the necessary data to guide strategic planning and helps improving performance and achieving results to improve current and future management of outputs, outcomes and impact. He said that Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) is an important management tool to track progress and it facilitates in decision making as well as establishes links between the past, present and future actions. He said that after implementation of MES in NAB, the performance of NAB Officers/officials has improved. The chairman said that NAB Balochistan is one of the important Regional Bureaus of NAB. It plays prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB. He appreciated the performance of NAB Balochistan and directed to arrest all corrupt, proclaimed offenders (POs) and absconders in line with NAB’s enforcement policy. He also directed all ranks of officers of NAB Balochistan to work more vigilantly, diligently and honestly in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country. He said performance of all wings of NAB Balochistan under the supervision of Irfan Naeem Mangi, director general NAB Balochistan is appreciated and hoped that NAB Balochistan will continue its excellent performance in future. Earlier, on arrival in NAB Balochistan, Chairman NAB reviewed guard of honour and held a meeting with Mr. Irfan Naeem Mangi, DG, NAB Balochistan who highlighted NAB Balochistan performance.
