ISLAMABAD: In order to stop corrupt practices, Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided on Monday to file three corruption references against Asfand Yar Kakar, Ali Bakhsh Baloch and others NAB’s EBM was held under the chairmanship of Qamar Zaman Chaudhry at NAB Headquarters. According to handout issued, NAB EBM has decided to file three corruption references. First corruption reference was decided to be filed against Balochistan Food ex-minister Asfand Yar Kakar and Balochistan Food ex-secretary Ali Bakhsh Baloch and others. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for embezzlement in government wheat worth of Rs 1525.0122 million from provincial reserve centres of Sariab, Quetta and Baluchistan. Second corruption reference was decided to be filed against Harris Steel Industry Pvt Ltd Chief Executive Sheikh Muhammad Afzal and others. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for obtaining illegal financial benefits through corrupt, dishonest and illegal means and thereby caused corresponding loss to the NIB Bank Ltd. Third corruption reference was decided to be filed against Bahuddin Zikria University (BZU) Multan ex-vice chancellor Prof Syed Khawaja Alqama, BZU ex-registrar Malik Munir Hussain and others. In this case, Prof Syed Khawaja Alqama, Malik Munir and others in connivance with each other illegally established BZU sub campus in Lahore by misusing their authority and illegally obtained benefits to the tune of Rs 960 million. He directed all officials of NAB to put their best efforts in conduct of investigations against corrupts in accordance with laws transparently and on merit.
