ISLAMABAD: Members of National Assembly’s Public Account Committee (PAC) visited Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Polyclinic. Shahida Akhtar was heading the standing committee members. While giving briefing to committee, the Polyclinic administration told that CADD Ministry has issued Rs 45 million to CDA for expansion of Polyclinic. According to the reports, the hospital is to be expanded to the half of the Argentine Park. Performance of hospital would become much better with the construction of new blocks and more patients would be treated with better facilities. In addition, heavy and expensive machinery would also be installed in which CT scan and the heart diseases machines would be included, told by administration. Meanwhile, the members of PAC also visited PIMS. A member of the committee said that PIMS cardiac centre should have opened three years ago. At that time, total expenditure was estimated for Rs one billion and now it has been estimated Rs three billion. The members of the committee also stressed to provide more facilities at the hospital and to meet the deficiency of staff. They also showed concern at the poor sanitary conditions in the hospital.
