ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday summoned Director General and a Director of two different law enforcement agencies in a case regarding the missing of a citizen. A single member bench of IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Khan Kiyani heard the case filed by the family of a citizen Nouman Abbas seeking his recovery. During hearing, the bench expressed displeasure on non-recovery of the citizen and said that a citizen had been disappeared from Pakistan but the law enforcement agencies could not find him so far. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani remarked that it was the incapability of department concerned that a citizen was missing for last eight months. However, the legal Inspector of the departments submitted that they had made inquiry on this issue. The court directed the senior officials of two sensitive departments to appear before the court on next date of hearing and submit their reply in this case. The hearing of the case was adjourned till February 3, 2017. It may be mentioned here that Nauman held by unknown armed people when he was staying in-laws in jurisdiction of Sihala police station. The petitioner stated that on May 9, Nauman along with his wife and a little daughter went to Islamabad for attending a wedding ceremony. He was staying at the house of his in-laws in Model Town, Hummak near Islamabad. He said at 1 am the doorbell rang and the gate was banged loudly. When a sister-in-law of Nauman opened the door she was left frightened to see more than a dozen armed men who stormed into the house. Three of them were dressed in elite force uniform while the rest were in civvies, he added. The family said that the armed persons entered the room where Nauman was sleeping along with his wife and daughter. They asked him to go with them and also took his laptop and landline phone set in their custody. Meanwhile, a petition had been moved in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday challenging the appointments of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commission. A ward member of District Kasur Muhammad Anwar and Riaz Hanif Rahi Advocate moved the petition against the appointments. The petitioner adopted the stance that the CEC and other members didn’t meet the required qualification and standard of the posts. The members had also crossed the required age limit, he further added. Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Secretary Election Commission, Chief Election Commissioner and other members had been nominated as respondents in the petition.
