ISLAMABAD: Computer laboratories are being established in girls’ schools working under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to upgrade the standard of education at par with international standards. According to an official of the Ministry of Information and Technology here on Friday, 107 girls’ schools of the federal capital are being provided modern computer laboratories. The ministry is also taking initiatives for girls empowerment in collaboration with Bait-ul-mal, Universal Services Fund and Microsoft, he added. He said 157 Women Empowerment Centres are working under Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. The centres are being established as part of the ‘ICT for Girls’ project, aiming to equip WECs with state of the art computer laboratories and broadband infrastructure. He said, “We intend to leverage ICT as key driver of bridging the social gap.”
