ISLAMABAD: A new emergency ward and a filter clinic of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) would be completed by the end of this month. A spokesman of PIMS told that the new emergency of the hospital is 90 percent complete and the ward could be inaugurated by the end of this month. Hundreds of patients get admitted in the emergency unit daily, putting pressure on the meager facilities of the hospital. Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) State Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had directed the construction of new emergency and reopening of filter clinic after he evaluated the existing emergency centre, which is not spacious enough to cater to the needs of growing number of patients. The new emergency would have all the facilities including CT Scan and X-ray machines along with other equipments. According to the sources, emergency patients would be categorised in three colours of red, green and yellow. The patients under red category will be admitted to emergency immediately. The green category patients will be discharged soon after provision of first aid whereas the patients under yellow category will be sent to wards after their treatment in the emergency.
