ISLAMABAD: A five-day Faculty Training Programme on Research Methodology for English Language Teachers in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission kicked off at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) here on Thursday. Director General HEC Learning Innovation Division, Fida Hussain, was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony while DG NUML, Brig Riaz Ahmed Gondal, Dean Faculty of English Studies, Dr. Safeer Awan, Course Coordinator HEC, Tahir Mehmood, Dr. Ejaz Mirza, organiser of the training, focal person training Assistant Professor Muntazir Mehdi, participants form various universities alongwith the NUML also attended the training session. Speaking on the occasion the DG HEC, Fida Hussain, said that the purpose of the training programme was to create a research culture in the country and guide the faculty members to conduct standard research. He said that the HEC was striving hard to promote research and it’s due to the HEC’s efforts that Pakistan was producing quality research work as compared to India. He vowed that the HEC would enhance research grant to meet the future needs. He thanked the NUML for playing an active role in promoting the research culture. Earlier, Director General NUML, Brig Riaz Ahmed Gondal, in his welcome address said that it was the need of the hour to promote the research culture in the country and universities must play their due role in this regard. He said that universities could play a role of a think tank for the country and guide the government with their quality research in different fields of research.
