ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court’s (SC) Lahore Registry, seeking the registration of a case against Nawaz Sharif and his aides over the death of 12-year-old Hamid. Hamid lost his life when he was run over by a car that was part of Nawaz Sharif’s motorcade. The incident occurred in Lalamusa. The petition was filed by Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi. The petitioner urged SC to conduct hearings of the case in the high court instead of the trial court. Naqvi also requested the SC to examine the transcripts of Nawaz Sharif’s speeches in the ongoing rallies and register a treason case against him under Article-6. Naqvi accused Nawaz of committing contempt of court at numerous public places and requested the court to put him on the Exit Control List (ECL). The court has also been requested to stop members of parliament from amending Article-62, 63. Published in Daily Times, August 13th 2017.
