ISLAMABAD: The 67th death anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was observed with due reverence and sobriety on Friday across the country. Quran Khawani was held at various places, including the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi, and the national flag flew at half-mast on all main buildings. Political personalities, armed forces, officials and citizens visited his mausoleum offered Fateha and laid wreaths to pay tribute to deceased leader for his services for the cause of Muslims of the Subcontinent and newly born state (Pakistan). Seminars, conferences and functions were also held in which the speakers highlighted Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s golden principles of “unity, faith and discipline” to make Pakistan a real Islamic welfare state envisioned by the great leader. Several public and private organisations also organised functions to highlight different aspects of the life and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam who united Muslims of the Subcontinent and struggled for acquiring a separate homeland. Various functions were organised by the government and civil society organisations in different cities of the country to observe the day with renewed commitment to make the country and the nation prosperous. Different educational institutions had also arranged special sessions to observe the day, with students reminiscing different aspects of Quaid’s life, personality and struggle. Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on December 25, 1876 at Wazir Mansion Karachi and passed away on September 11, 1948. Though he lived slightly over a year after the creation of Pakistan, the Quaid wanted to see his country become a role model for other nations, free from corruption, nepotism and hypocrisy. Radio Pakistan, PTV and other channels aired special programmes to pay tribute to the father of the nation on the occasion of his death anniversary, while newspapers published special supplements.
