ISLAMABAD: The appointment of the Executive Director Lok Virsa has been challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC). The single bench of the IHC headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani has conducted the hearing of the case. After the preliminary hearing, the court has declared the petition maintainable and summoned the Ministry of Information and Lok Virsa on February 14, 2017. The petitioner Muhammad Ibrahim in his petition adapted that appointment of Dr. Fauzia Saeed as Executive Director Lok Virsa was illegal as she does not fulfil the qualification required for this slot. The counsel of the petitioner Asma Shabbir Malik, told the court that acting ED, Lok Virsa, had resigned from her post in 1989 instead of facing a departmental inquiry and now she assumed the charge of ED despite the passing of several years adding that neither recruitment on this slot was made nor did she fulfil the criteria required for it. The counsel of the petitioner further told the court that ED Lok Virsa was misusing her powers including inappropriate use of budget of the department. She was also facilitating her blue-eyed contractual employees adding that even the officers of Grade 17 and 18 were being recruited while misusing her official powers.
