ISLAMABAD: Amid controversy triggered by Panama Papers over involvement of several political top guns of the country in the controversial offshore business, the top leadership of country’s three major political parties will be in London in next couple of days. While Asif Ali Zardari is already in London, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is set to leave for London apparently for a ‘medical check-up’. A spokesperson said on Monday that the prime minister had postponed his medical check-up for several times owing to his national engagements and that now he will leave for London on Wednesday (tomorrow). The prime minister had to attend a two-day conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Turkey but he cancelled his participation in that event. President Mamnoon Hussain will now be representing Pakistan at the conference. Jehangir Khan Tareen, the de facto second-in-command of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, has already left for London while PTI chief Imran Khan is likely to set off on April 14. On Monday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz left for Saudi Arabia from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. He will stay in Saudi Arabia for a few days and will also head to London from there. Political observers are viewing the gathering of these leaders with interest. While they are not ready to accept this as a mere coincidence, questions are being asked whether a new ‘London Plan’ is in the making.
