ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said on Thursday that the date for a meeting between the foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India to work out the schedule and modalities of the Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue was yet to be finalised. “I hope things would move forward in the next few weeks. But no final date (for foreign secretaries meeting) has so far been finalised,” Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry told a private television channel. He said that during the visit of Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday, the two sides had agreed that the foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India will meet to finalize the schedule and modalities of the comprehensive bilateral dialogue. To a question about the prospects of Pak-India cricket series, the foreign secretary said, in this respect Pakistan Cricket Board as well as other institutions concerned were in contact with their Indian counterparts. “I hope whatever decision is taken, it will be in line with the aspirations of the people of two countries,” he added. Senior political analysts have termed the announcement of Comprehensive Dialogue between Pakistan and India as “positive”, however stressed that sincere efforts are needed for its solid outcome. “This development has reduced the tension between Pakistan and India to some extent. However, both the countries need to focus much more on the continuity of the process,” former ambassador Akram Zaki said Thursday in his comments on the recent resumption of Pak-India Comprehensive Dialogue. Pakistan and India on Wednesday announced resumption of the stalled peace dialogue, which will cover issues including peace and security, confidence building measures and Jammu and Kashmir.
