ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari Thursday said that the accountability process should start from the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. At a meeting with Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, the former president said that his party has a clear stance on the terms of reference (ToRs) for investigation into revelations made by the Panama Papers and it would not back down from it. Zardari said the PPP will give tough time to the government and will not make any compromise over the issue of investigation into Panama leaks. He also gave necessary guidelines to Khursheed Shah over drafting of ToRs for investigation into panama leaks. He said that PPP should consider the transparent investigation into Panama leaks a test case and that every decision should be made in consultation with the opposition parties. Khurshid Shah informed Zardari about progress on the matter of ToRs. Shah also briefed Zardari on the federal budget announced by the government for financial year 2016-17 and said that no relief was given to the people in the budget. Zardari has last month rejected the assertion that he has reached some ‘understanding’ with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue of Panama leaks. “Pakistan People’s Party has a clear stance on Panama Leaks and rumours about reaching an understanding with Nawaz Sharif are not true, baseless and ill-indented,” Zardari had said in a statement.
