ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday said that efforts must continue in collaboration with other national institutions to defeat terrorism in order to establish the rule of law and uphold the supremacy of constitution in the country, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). “Efforts must continue, in concert with other elements of national power to defeat terrorism/militancy in order to establish rule of law and uphold supremacy of constitution,” the COAS said while presiding over the 203rd Corps Commanders’ conference held at the General Headquarters (GHQ). The forum undertook a comprehensive review of internal and external security environment and deliberated upon regional security situation, especially the situation in Afghanistan. The conference reaffirmed its commitment to work for regional peace and security. “We look forward to a trust based mutual cooperation in this regard which can achieve the policy ends of enduring regional peace,” Gen Bajwa said. The conference was briefed about situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and Indian violations of the ceasefire agreement. The forum acknowledged positive long-term effects being achieved through Operation Radd ul Fasaad, according to the ISPR. The army chief especially appreciated successful conduct of Operation Khyber 4 in the most inhospitable terrain of Rajgal with minimal own casualties. He said the achievement made possible through high standards of professionalism of Pakistan Army. The army chief also expressed satisfaction on army’s commitment to national defence and security.
