ISLAMABAD: The pedestrians at Zero Point Interchange are facing problems due to absence of footpaths. Many pedestrians can be seen walking on road in presence of heavy traffic and the sidewalk or footpath is absent. A pedestrian Muhammad Jameel said that there is not enough space for pedestrians at Zero Point Interchange. The pedestrians complained that the authorities have not built footpaths to facilitate the pedestrian and pedestrians are compelled to walk on the roadside. He said that that authority should build proper footpath at Zero Point Interchange for the safety of the pedestrians. He further said, “I was hit by a bike rider few months back while he was walking down the road due to absence of footpath”. He said that the footpaths should be so designed that they are wide enough to facilitate the pedestrians. An official of CDA said that the footpaths would be constructed and repaired in various parts of the capital city. He said that the footpaths on Zero Point Interchange are one of the good suggestions and the civic body would consider this matter in high-level meeting.
