ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in Senate, Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq on Friday said that Canadian Red Cross Society has been very generous in extending relief work to Pakistan and its cooperation with Pakistan Red Crescent Society has no strings attached to it. While addressing a meeting with Canadian Red Cross Society Chief Executive Officer Conrad Sauve, who called on him at the Parliament House on Friday along with a delegation of six members, Senator Zafarul Haq said that Canada has always been very supportive to Pakistan since 1947, and has been recently more active in exchanging expertise in relief work for the last ten years. He said that the most encouraging aspect of this cooperation is that Canada’s relief work is solely humanitarian and has no strings attached to it. Conrad Sauve told him that Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has developed its capacity and it will soon be seen exchanging expertise at international level. Dr Saeed from the PRCS told Senator Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq that Canada and Pakistan have recently signed an agreement for the next 10 years. The leader of the House said that Pakistan is stationed at difficult terrains where strange climate changes have become a regular feature. Pakistan needs to develop a strong internal mechanism to cope up with these climatic changes, in addition to help from international community, he stressed.
