ISLAMABAD: A regional skills competition is going to be held on Monday (today) which will help enhance the vocational skills of the youth and act as a step forward to boost the morale of the students and attract them towards vocational education and training. The regional skills competition is being organised by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) in which a number of trainees will participate from AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad and exhibit their skills in six trades including, auto cad, general electrician, plumbing/pipe fitting, beautician, fashion designing and dress making, said a press release issued here on Sunday. It is worth mentioning that earlier skills competition at the zonal levels were held across the country and their winners would now participate in provincial competitions. These competitions focus on capacity building of our youth so that they are in a better position to secure jobs both at the domestic and the international market, said Executive Director NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema. He said equipping youth with technical and vocational skills was a gateway toward the socio-economic development of any country. The winner of each trade will be awarded with Rs. 75,000, Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 would be awarded to second and third position holder respectively. PEEF allocates worth Rs.18.8 m scholarships: The Punjab Educational En dowment Fund (PEEF) has allocated 74 scholarships amounting to Rs.18.8 million for the students of the International Islamic University Islamabad. Allocated scholarships are part of PEEF’s new Master’s level scholarship programme under the title “Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarships (SSMS)” for the current academic year 2016-17, said a news release on Friday. A total of 1000 fully funded scholarships shall be offered to the outstanding students enrolled in Masters/M.Phil/MS degree programmes in the top ranked universities of Pakistan. University leadership has appreciated the efforts of Additional Director (Academics) Syed Naveed Ehtisham and his team for untiring efforts regarding allocation of scholarships. Proposal to facilitate parties via SMS: A proposal is under active consideration of the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) to develop a website on the pattern of Islamabad High Court and to send SMS on mobile numbers of persons whose cases are not heard. Around 743 benches were constituted during the period from January 1 to April 30, 2016 at Islamabad, Camp Office Lahore and Karachi while 811 cases were adjourned during the period. Details provided by Law and Justice Division on Sunday revealed that a proposal was also under consideration to divide the cases of non-available benches to available benches on same date or date requested by the parties.
