ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Human Rights will celebrate the International Human Rights Day at National level on December 10. The Ministry will confer National Human Rights Awards to the Human Rights activists who have rendered meretricious services for the realization of human rights. Grand award distribution ceremony will be held at President House on December 10. Awards will be given in seven categories including Women Rights Award, Child Rights Awards, Minorities Rights Awards, PWDs Award, Media Awards, Protection of life and dignity Award. Minister for human rights Kamran Michael said this while presiding over the high level meeting of National Human Rights Awards committee in Islamabad. Besides the members of the committee, Additional Secretary Human Rights Ministry Humaira Azam also attended the meeting. The Minister advised the committee that the nominations for the awards should be based on the merit. It was told in the meeting that all arrangements have been finalized to celebrate the Human rights day. Member for National Human Rights Award Nomination Committee reviewed the nominations for individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to human rights in the country. Addressing the meeting, Senator Kamran Michael has said that steps have been taken through comprehensive strategy to improve the human rights situation particularly the rights of women, minorities and children. He reiterated his commitment to ensure the equal rights for all the citizens of the country adding that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has approved the action plan for human rights which is being implemented throughout the country. “Grand award ceremony will be held at President House Islamabad while as Provincial award ceremonies will be held at Provincial headquarters”, the Minister concluded.
